Sniket - Quake Swedish-style (June 1998)
Robert "Sniket" Edman is one of Sweden's top Players and is a DM6 specialist par excellence. If you haven't watched a demo of this guy in action yet, you're in for a treat. Sniket's gameplay is characterised by incredible accuracy and ultra-quick aim. He can make shots that have you wishing there was slow motion and rewind available (a hint to all those demoplay-type guys out there). He can also make the toughest opponents look like they are in need of some more practice. At times, Sniket seems to be only half stretched by the middle of the game. It's no wonder he's interested in playing the best Players from around Europe and looks forward to a 1 on 1 with Thresh.

The first one is between Sniket and Suglort and is called ziebell_dm6.zip. The second demo is between Sniket and [QPD] Timber and is very recent. It is called timber_dm6[980607].zip. Timber is one of the UK's most exciting Players (especially on DM4).

In another demo, which you can find at http://www.propos.se/~robert/demos/snidodm4.zip Sniket beats DOOMer (who has also beaten Timber by a large margin) in a 10 minute game on DM4. It was DOOMer, who along with Nicodemus, was beaten by U4-Thorn and Unholy in DM3 and DM6 on LAN at E3, by 40 and 30 frags, respectively. This led to D9-Frick saying, "In my humble opinion, I don't think DOOMer could give Thresh a close game". Makes me wonder how Thresh would fare against Sniket on DM6.

Sniket's favourite saying is "sug på den", which loosely translated means "suck on it" =).

How did you come by your screen-name � �Sniket�? What does it mean?

Sniket:
Well...my brother called me that when i was like 10 years old...something that are a "snik" means that it kinda sucks....like "what a snik computer" is like "what a crapy computer"...and i dont remember what i did but i did something bad...so i was called Sniket =).

Challenge-au:
How did you start playing Quake? How long have you been playing now?

Sniket:
I started playing Quake when a freind of mine showed the game for me (the demo). I've played A LOT with keyboard, I've only played with mouse for 10 month...you can say I started playing Quake when the full version came out.

Challenge-au:
I saw in another interview that was done by a German Player named BC-GianT very recently that you used to play for something like 10 hours a day!! Do you find you lose your skills if you don�t play so many hours? How long does it take to get �back in form�?

Sniket:
When I started playing Quake I played like 10 hours a day....but then my phonebill was too big (biggest i think was like SWE$1050) soo you could guess why I stoped playing that much...then I got a place to play lpb at, and I started to play a lot again...then after like 3 months it wasn´t that fun anymore...so I kinda stoped playing.. maybe like 2 times a week... then I stopped playing... had a break for 3 month... It took me like..5 hours to get back in shape.. (u saw the demo vs Ziebell...it was my third 1on1 fight after my 3 month break =), kinda felt good playing again just that my aim wasn´t that good, hehe. Now I play like 2 times a week, can´t play more...school and girlfriend...not much time left. =))

What are your favourite Quake maps/ levels?

Sniket:
Favourite map... definitely DM6.

Challenge-au:
Who is/ was your favourite dueling partner? Who are/were your toughest opponents? Who do you think are the best 5 Players in Europe right now? Who do you think would give you a tough game?

Sniket:
hmm...I must say Turbo...I think he´s still in nine...he doesn´t play more so am not sure...hell of a guy (we played at nine and had a great time at dm6, he was soo good at dm6...) =), since he´s not playing.. I've played Dafflafsta a bit, and he is soo cool, always making these crazy stuff when he is playing (he is like me, HATE dm4 love dm6 =)...so basically we only play dm6, hehe. My toughest opponents... was Descenman.. he was a dammn good player.. since he has stoped playing.... hmm maybe Sectopod, Mr Kill.. they are really good...the 9s guys are great...some guys from UK, Germany...bah...hard to say, so damn many good players. The 5 best...yeah right I´ll tell ya when I played em all.....giving me a tough game...ehrm..hehe...Thresh maybe 8)

Do you think Deathrow will beat Clan 9 if they come to Sweden? Why were DOOMer and Nicodemus beaten at E3? Do you think Thresh is really the �best Quake Player in the world�?

Sniket:
Well..am not sure, since I havent played DR i really don't know how good they are.. Nine are the best clan in europe (so far..) no doubt about that, and I think DR will have a hard time against them....about Thresh., well he's a damn good player thats for sure...in duels he´s good, but he´s a damn smart dude...but the way he is playing... dont like it... well I sure wanna see him play a good 1on 1 player from Scandinavia... cause we play so much different... more aggressive...

Are you seeing many new, younger players coming into the Quake scene in Sweden?

Sniket:
Yeah, they just keep coming, I dont know when it´s gonna end..

Challenge-au:
Are you playing much Quake2? What do you like/ dislike most about it? Do you play any other games?  

Sniket:
No am not playing Quake2 at all...did a bit when it came out, just for fun...but it´s no feeling in it, at least not like Quake, u know the old rocket duels and shaft...naa..it just aint the same. As I said before I dont got time playing games anymore...the little sparetime I have I play quake or 3d-modeling (graphics)

What�s the Quake scene like in Sweden right now? Are their any national tournaments? Any big Swedish competitions going on?

Sniket:
hmmm...it's kinda dead, some leagues, but it's no one who is taking it serious, I think. It´s more actions in the modem teams than lpb..hehe..

Challenge-au:
Tell us about your Clan. Do you play many Clan battles these days?

Sniket:
What can i say...some of the best Scandinavian players....My clan was started for not so long ago...we are playing as much as we can...

Challenge-au:
How often do you venture out onto other European servers? Where do you go? Where is the �most action� happening these days?

Sniket:
I wanna play with all the "famous" players, so I play at UK or German servers a lot, just, so hard to get intouch of em... most action..hehe where I can say.. Norway.. they are playing like if the game just got out =)

Challenge-au:
You took part in those �internationals� last year against the UK and other countries. What was that like? Would you do it again?

Sniket:
It was really fun...if I would do it again, u goto be kidding me, hell yeah!

Challenge-au:
Is there a Swedish national team still? Do you think it should be started up again?

Sniket:
Am not sure...naa it must be =), yeah more International fights.. that was fun!

Have you heard of any Australian Quake Players? Have you watched any demos?

Sniket:
I dont think I've heard about any...and no demos :/ (looking at your hp now). Well I hope to meet some of the Australian Quake Players....
