| xhrl: Why do you prefer to play team deathmatch over a duel Is it that a kind of less position/camping and more aiming/moving style of gameplay seems to fit you better? How do you handle the "shared" responsibility in TDM; dont you think the responsibility is easier to handle in dueling? |
Pietro: I prefer team deathmatch over duels since it's harder to get good working tactics as a team than it is in duels. It's so much harder to understand tdm and correct why you lose in team matches; in duels you always know it's your own fault.
| xhrl: Do you find playing a specific map more challenging than certain others? For example, with FF you guys really seemed to know what you are doing on dm2, dm3 or e1m2, but what about e2m2? |
Pietro: When I played in FF we hardly ever played e2m2 we stopped playing before that. I don't think i would have any problems on the map; but someone like Exile might that hasn't even seen the map. It could be fun to watch :)
| xhrl: Youve played QW for quite a while, Pietro; was your toughest TDM competition from E or the great old clan Z or some other clan? |
Pietro: I think it was the final of some Smackdown game when we won with 3-2 against E.
| xhrl: Are you pleased by the recent acceptance of mqwcl as a legitimate client in qw; do you use mqwcl? |
Pietro: I'm currently helping out with a project for a smackdown client in qw; I hope it will be very good! I don't use mqwcl.
| xhrl: I have always enjoyed watching you play on dm3 in TDM, as you can really do an amazing job roaming or working a confined area without doing much damage to yourself; is this how you have practised with Lege Artis so far? |
Pietro: Presently I'm quite rusty but everybody in Lege Artis is really good individually. I often get stuck guarding some armour these days :)
| xhrl: Who would you say the TDM player is that you admire the most? Id really be interested to know what you think about different players or teams strengths on certain maps. Please tell me whom you think is topnotch on dm2, 3 and e1m2. |
Pietro: I never watch any demos therefore I only know the players I have played against myself. I think Nabbe is a really good e1m2 player and so is Vana. TVS was always a pain on DM2 but I don't think it was any individual player, it was more of a team performance. DM3 was my domain at one time, but nowadays I don't know.
| xhrl: You are considered by many to have been part of the strongest clan ever in QW; for a variety of reasons I would agree. But I find your "FF method" of playing TDM quite unique in that you dont seem to play positionally, rather you guys seem to time items and even move from one position to another, not really staying in an area to keep it covered. Am I way off in this perception or is this what you guys intend to do? |
Pietro: We had positions originally and since we began we always played with the same people in those positions. Everybody therefore always knew which areas were lost when a certain player died. That made it really easy to regain those areas. It wasn't limited to standing at the ra top or something like that. You only have to pick the armour everytime it spawns; you don't have to stand on it:)
| xhrl: Pietro, being that you have been around the QW scene for a long time, Id like to know whether you have you ever played any old schoolers like LakermaN or Kane? What do you see as the relative weaknesses/strengths of the old school style of play? |
Pietro: I played Lakerman on a LAN once but that was sometime after he had stopped playing qw and was all into q3. The old school players have a really good understanding of where their opponents are.
| xhrl: With Lege Artis, you have added Nabbe to a clan with 3 of the 4 FF starters. Do you consider nabbe to be a good fit with you, akke and dag? Is he a strategically minded player? |
Pietro: Nabbe is a benefit to our teamplay as he has a good aim and compliments us well tactically.
| xhrl: How do other games you have tried compare to QW? Do any help you develop your QW skills? |
Pietro: I have tried CS and Q3, i didn't like them more than qw, the only good thing they did for me was to make me understand how fun qw is :)
| xhrl: What do you think of the scripting controversy in QW? Where do you draw the line between a crutch and a legitimate script? I know you have stated that you are not opposed to the frj scripts? |
Pietro: I don't think there is anything wrong in using scripts; I even have a script myself :p
| xhrl: FF did a great job in the Smackdown tournaments and every other tourney you guys entered. Now that you guys have reformed as Lege Artis, you must be considered, in my opinion, as the team to beat in SD4. Do you think that QW in NEU would be better off if Lege Artis had not formed; do you think paradoks is saying "oh no! theyre back!"? Do you think it is actually good for QW competition to have a "top" team that all the other teams have to take aim at if they hope to become number one? |
Pietro: I don't know if QW in NEU would be better off without Lege Artis. Perhaps it makes those players that were on top or very close to it find a new challenge; and that can't be bad.
| xhrl: Well I will end off where others begin: what is your name, age and where do you live in Sweden? What are your computer's specifications/ connection speed, etc.? |
Pietro: Jens Thorn, 22, ume sweden. AMD 1333 geforce 2, 10 mbit ethernet (very laggy anyway)
| xhrl: Outside of QW Pietro what are your interests? Do you like to fly fish or read or ski or hang with friends or? |
Pietro: I play a card game called magic the gathering. www.wizards.com/magic
| xhrl: Who has been the biggest influence in your QW life (was it trying to take over the Rainmans sofa)? Who do you think has done the most to benefit the QW scene in NEU?.you can name more than one individual of course:) |
| Pietro: Apollyon for creating the Smackdown league and running it. It's a hard job but someone has to do it for QW. |
