Gooseman interview
CHNZ-Qoke:
What is your long-term vision for Counter-Strike?
Gooseman:
I think I've achieved my long term vision of CS. That was to create a game that had a nice mixture of fun and realism while concentrating on the things that make Counter-Terrorism so interesting (ie. wicked guns and exciting scenarios).
CHNZ-Qoke:
We seem to have a growing female Counter-Strike community in New Zealand. Do you plan have to have female models in future releases of the mod?
Gooseman:
Unfortunately, I don't have any plans to do any female models. I'm just far far too busy with other things CS related. I have seen many user created female player models...
CHNZ-Qoke:
If we had some modelers create some female CS models (1 T, 1 CT), would you consider including them in a future release?
Gooseman:
Probably not, We're already maxed out in terms of memory usage and we can't really afford to add any new player models. They'll just have to remain as a separate addon that people can download.
CHNZ-Qoke:
With the possibility of the escape gamemode being dropped, do you plan to have any other new gamemode to replace it?
Gooseman:
Yeah, I've got something cooking.. I can't tell you what it is right now because it's very early in the planning stages.
CHNZ-Qoke:
Can we expect to see any new primary weapons in up-coming releases?
Gooseman:
Yes, I'm sure I'll come up with something.. I just don't know what that will be right now.
CHNZ-Qoke:
With the addition of the new vehicle movement code, will this allow mappers the ability to have armoured vehicles, such that one player may drive and another may aim and shoot?
Gooseman:
Right now, the CS code does not support this... (I'm told it's quite difficult). The fully controllable vehicles themselves are immensely fun even without turrets.
CHNZ-Qoke:
Will the new vehicles be able to damage players if you drive into or over them?
Gooseman:
Yea, that's the plan.
CHNZ-Qoke:
There seem to be numerous map, model and texture hacks that cheaters are using to see other players through walls. Will you be implementing CRC checks on maps, textures and models to prevent this?
Gooseman:
CRC checks are being done already.. They're just being bypassed :) I'm told Valve are looking into the problem and hopefully they can come up with a workable solution... For now, we'll just have to put up with the cheating scumbags.
